A Quick Hello

Wow! It's been a very long time since I last posted on this blog! How did that happen? Time flies by so fast, life takes over and before you know it another year has come and gone.

The last few years have been a bit tough on a personal level, but I'm slowly but surely getting my act back together - I hope! So I thought I'd just pop in here to say hi to you all. I'm hoping soon I will be able to start writing on my blogs again.

In the meantime, I would like to wish all of you a wonderful, blessed, joyous festive Season.

Summer projects

It has been a quite a year here at Life on a cupcake. Life just sometimes seem to take over - does that happen to you too? I've also been working hard on my miniature business, Little Canvas - which as you know, takes up a lot of time. Hopefully I will find a way to balance it all and write more on this blog in future, as I do miss it!

Today I just want to say hi and give you a little peek at some of the projects I have been working on over the summer months. I will share more details about them with you in future posts.

I hope you are all well? Do leave a comment if you have a moment? I'd love to hear what you have all been up too! Chat to you soon :)

Up-cycled lamp shade and glass bottle

I've had this bedside lamp for many years, so it was getting a bit tired and I've been meaning to do something to it for quite a while now. I didn't want to paint the base, as I love the dark wood, but I did want to spruce up the shade a bit. This weekend I finally got around to it. Made a little "skirt" and flower with chiffon and added a bit of trim. Seems I'm going all girlie in my old age! haha I'm very happy with how it turned out!

I made the flower using this tutorial from Love Maegen: Chiffon flower

This is how it looked before

And after

While I was at it, I thought I might as well prettify this
glass bottle I bought ... 22 years ago!
I just added a bit of ribbon, lace, charms and flowers.

A pretty pink and romantic corner in my bedroom.
The lamp now gives a lovely soft, rosy glow to the room.
Love it!

Spring is in the air!

Well.... sort of! Some days are lovely with sunny skies and milder temperatures;  other days -like today- are still a bit chilly and grey. However, there's no denying that Spring is around the corner. With Daffodils and blossoms everywhere I can't help but feel excited at the prospect of long, sunny days ahead!

I've been a bit quiet here lately, as I had my hands full trying to juggle everything in my daily life (what's new?). However, I'm slowly but surely getting more organised and getting a grip on my planning. I've been very busy with my new obsession (yes, I've crossed the line from hobby to obsession so fast I didn't even notice the hobby phase!!) - doll houses and miniatures. You can read more about it on my other blog: www.littlecanvasart.blogspot.co.uk and find my miniature artwork at www.littlecanvas.co.uk

See you soon!
